I cannot walk past a Callicarpa this time of year without stopping to smile. Relentlessly cheerful, kind of goofy, the startlingly purple berries are a tonic on these dark grey days. I want one in my own garden! Fortunately Swanson's says they will have them bare root next month.

ReplyDeleteOh, such a timely post! I actually stopped the car to take a picture of one the other day by the Burke-Gilman trail. It came out too blurry to post, alas. I vowed then that I would get one for my parking strip. If you find them at Swanson's, can you give me a holler? Thanks!
